FAQs

Yes! If you are in California we are now offering beer delivery directly to your doorstep through our online store, Fort Point Direct. Valid photo ID is required for delivery.

Currently, Fort Point Direct deliveries are only available to addresses in the state of California.

Unfortunately not right now! For the beer industry, every state sets its own laws and regulations about beer delivery from other states into its territory. Most states have heavy restrictions in place which makes it illegal for us to ship to them from California. (The wine industry has it a LOT easier and works with different laws ;)). We're working on a few projects to hopefully expand our shipping options in the future — sign up for our newsletter and follow us on Instagram for updates as we'll make any announcements there if we add new shipping territories!

  • San Francisco: 1-hour, same-day delivery (if ordered before 8pm, deliveries happen from 2pm-8pm)
  • Throughout California: Overnight delivery (if ordered before 5pm)

To purchase beer on Fort Point Direct, you may use a credit card. We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, JCB, Diners Club, and Elo.

Yes! The delivery person will check your ID against your order to confirm you are 21+.

Yes! The delivery person will check your ID against your order to confirm you are 21+. Packages cannot be left unattended, so please plan to be available to accept your delivery!


You can make an order on Fort Point Direct anytime! We are regularly fulling and sending out deliveries from 2pm to 8pm every day.

If you are in SF and...

  • order beer during that time window, you will get your beer delivered in an hour or less.
  • order beer outside of that time window, we will fulfill your order first thing once we open next (i.e. If you order at 9:30am, we will fill your order at 2pm the same day. If you order at 8:30pm, we will fill your order at 2pm the next day.)

If you are outside of SF and ordering beer, your order will be fulfilled based on our cut-off times and our "open" hours will affect you less. See the question below.

  • Order before 8pm to have your beer delivered the same day.
  • Orders placed after 8pm will be delivered the next day between 2pm-3pm.

Order before 5pm to have your beer delivered the next day anywhere in California. Deliveries are fulfilled by GLS and will arrive between 8am to 5pm. A few things to note:

  • Our next-day shipping service does not deliver on Sundays. (If you order before 5pm on Friday, you will receive your order on Saturday).
  • Orders placed after 5pm on Friday will go out Monday morning and delivered on Tuesday. Orders placed on the weekend will be go out Monday morning and delivered on Tuesday.
  • If you order after 5pm on a weekday, that order will count as being entered for the following day and you will receive your package the day after that (i.e. if you order after 5pm on Tuesday, you will receive your order on Thursday).

Fort Point will provide a refund for orders with damaged or incorrect products. Refunds must be initiated within 24 hours of delivery by contacting shop@fortpointbeer.com along with pictures of damaged or incorrect beer. Refunds will be made to the original payment method. All apparel (hats, shirts, sweatshirts) are final sale.

No, if you are not ordering alcoholic beverages, you do not need to be 21+ years old to place an order.

If you’d like to use a Fort Point gift card you purchased through our Square site, please email us at shop@fortpointbeer.com with the gift card number, your name, email, and balance on the card (which can be checked here). We'll transfer that gift card balance to a new card that can be used online.

For reference, we have two different gift card systems and two different types of gift cards — one for our taprooms and one for our online webstore, Fort Point Direct.

  • If you have a Fort Point physical gift card or Square gift card, that gift card can be redeemed at any of our taprooms in person.
  • If you have a Fort Point Direct gift card (purchased and sent via email), you can use that at checkout from a purchase at www.fortpointbeer.com/shop.


For now, we’re only selling and delivering orders in California. Keep up with us on social media for the latest updates on when and if we expand to other states.

We work with GLS to ship beer across California.

Yes! A few quick details --

  • All of our keg orders are pick-up only unless over $2,000.
  • Keg order pick-up and keg shell return is at the Fort Point brewery (644 Mason Street).
  • Each keg has a deposit of $40 that will be refunded when the keg shell is returned. Keg shells must be returned within 30 days.

Yes! If you are looking to make a large order of six-packs, please reach out to us directly at shop@fortpointbeer.com. A few details below.

  • If you are ordering about 2-7 six-packs of a style, we often have that inventory in stock. Go ahead and place that order straight through Fort Point Direct! Don't see enough six-packs of beer in stock? Reach out to the email above.
  • We consider larger orders to be more than 10 six-packs of a beer style. For large orders, we will create a custom order for you via Fort Point Direct, send you an invoice that can be paid online, and your beer order will be available for pickup at Fort Point brewery (644 Mason Street). Email us at shop@fortpointbeer.com to get the process started! Please include the number of six-packs for each beer style you are looking to order and a pickup date and time that works for you during our pickup windows (Tuesdays and Thursdays between 3pm and 8pm).
  • We offer the lowest prices possible for our beers. As of now, we do not have bulk discounts. See someone with a lower price? Let us know and we'll look into price matching for you.
  • Alternatively, if you are working with a caterer for your event, please let us know and we can connect you with our distributor for your area. They will be able to fulfill and deliver your order directly.

We work with Uber to make same-day deliveries happen in San Francisco, and GLS to ship beer across California.

All of our available canned beers can be ordered for delivery to anywhere in California via Fort Point Direct. Please note, some of our beers are only available seasonally and draft-only beers cannot be ordered online. Our Limited beers are also only available for a short time and usually sell our quickly. If you’re in the Bay Area and looking for draft, or would like to pick up Fort Point at a store or restaurant near you, email us and we’ll point you in the right direction!

Currently, Fort Point beer is only sold and distributed in California, a small part of Arizona, and internationally in Japan. Our direct delivery service, Fort Point Direct, only ships within California as well due to interstate alcohol shipping restrictions.

Quality is extremely important to us, please reach out so we can make it right! If possible, include the following information about the beer in question so we can pass it along to our Quality Team:

  • Beer style
  • Package style (six-pack or twelve-pack)
  • Purchase location
  • Time and date stamp on the bottom of the can
  • Batch number on the bottom of the can (the four digits following the pound sign)

The date inked on the bottom of our beer cans, and stickered on our six-packs and twelve-packs, is the date the beer was packaged.

We recommend consuming your Fort Point within these timeframes for maximum freshness.

  • Within 90 days from package date: Animal, Villager
  • Within 120 days from package date: KSA, Westfalia, Sfizio

We don’t run any industry standard testing for gluten levels so we can’t make any claims about how high or low gluten levels are in our beers. However, we do use an enzyme to control haze levels in a few of our beers that indirectly lowers gluten content.

The beers that occasionally use this enzyme are Sfizio, Animal, and Villager.

Each Limited Beer release is part of our Limited Series so its intention is just to be available for a short time (often a month or less) before we release our next beer in the series. Our Limiteds allow us to do R&D on different styles and beers we want to experiment with, but there's always a chance that one of them comes back at some point if we feel like it was worth revisiting. If there's ever a Limited you particularly love, best to stock up on it before they sell out!

Our two taprooms are open: Fort Point Valencia and Fort Point Ferry Building. We made the decision to permanently close Mill Valley Beerworks during the pandemic. Fort Point Rockridge and Fort Point Lower Haight also closed in June 2022.

All of our taprooms are first-come, first-serve, and do not take reservations.

We are not currently hosting any large groups for special reservations or organizing any private events at our taprooms for the foreseeable future.

You are still more than welcome to bring your group to one of our taprooms during our open hours if you'd like to visit.

Children are welcome at all of our locations.

Outdoor tables are available at all of our locations and dogs are always welcome outside. Unfortunately, pets are not permitted inside per the SF health code.

Yes, we offer growler fills at all of our locations!

We offer stainless steel Fort Point growlers for purchase, available with or without a fill of beer. You can also bring in your own growler and purchase a growler fill.

Once the beer is first placed in a vacuum-sealed growler, it is good for up to 5 days. After you break the initial seal and the cap is opened, beer is best if consumed within 24 hours.

Unfortunately, the Fort Point brewery is a production facility only and closed to the public. We’re located on federal land which makes it a bit tricky to host people or open a bar (trust us, we know you guys want it and that it would be awesome! 😉 Maybe one day.).
